I became a Christian aged 11 while at a summer camp run by the Crusaders Union, an organisation which held bible classes for boys and girls around the country. As I grew up I learnt a lot through them and my faith grew and I later helped with running a class in London. While at university in London I became an active member of the Christian Union and was privileged to attend some of the well known evangelical churches such as Westminster Chapel and All Souls, Langham Place.
After graduating I took a teaching course and taught in schools in London and Luton before moving to Wellington in 1967 as Head of Chemistry at Wellington School. Expecting to move on after a while, I ended up staying there until my retirement in 1998.
I settled in an Anglican church in Taunton where I met my wife, Heather, and we were married in 1969 and were involved In the church until 1985 when we started going to Rockwell Green Christian Fellowship (The Well today). Soon after joining the Fellowship I was invited by David Clark, the leader, to join the leadership team and later also became Chairman of the Trustees. When Gail Owen, our treasurer moved to Sheffield, I took over her job temporarily and carried on for some years until 2018. During our time at Rockwell we have both been involved with teaching young people and ran nurture groups for new Christians. Since its creation in 1997 we have supported Barnabas Fellowship of Churches, including helping with Summer Camps. Heather wrote a booklet for new Christians for them.
After Heather died in 2013, I took part in one of the Barnabas Schools of Supernatural Ministry – a 6 month course with time in Reading and work at RGCF – a life changing experience.
We have always loved walking and caravanning which took us all over the country as far as John o’ Groats, and until recently, photography has been one of my main interests as well as visiting steam railways.
What is my vision for The Well? – to see folk grow in their faith and in freedom in the Holy Spirit and to see churches working together in extending God’s Kingdom.
